Our sports-oriented vascular medicine is therefore the right place to go if:

  • You have questions about blood vessels in relation to sports.
  • Would you like to have a vascular check-up?
  • You have a known vascular disease (intermittent claudication, blood clot, aneurysm, etc.) and would like to start exercising again.

Blood lipids (lipid consultation)

  • You want to have your blood lipid levels (cholesterol) checked and receive advice on how exercise can have a positive effect on them.
  • You would like to be examined and advised regarding your cardiovascular risk (heart attack, stroke).

 Leg vessels

  • Are you forced to take breaks due to severe cramp-like pain in your calves after walking or jogging just a few hundred meters?
  • You experience recurring weakness, cramp-like pain, or tingling in your leg/foot when cycling under high stress.
  • After about 10 minutes of jogging, you are repeatedly slowed down by slowly building, pressing pain in your lower legs, which eventually forces you to stop.
  • You have varicose veins and they bother you (e.g., during sports) and/or impair your recovery (e.g., severe muscle soreness).
  • You have varicose veins and knee osteoarthritis and want to know whether varicose vein treatment can improve your knee pain.

 Arm vessels

  • One of your arms swells more than the other during or after training, or tires prematurely.

Thomas Litscher, mountain biker"Due to my varicose veins, I repeatedly experienced muscle stiffness, tension, heaviness, and swelling in my legs, especially when exerting myself to the maximum on my mountain bike. After vein surgery performed by Dr. Roman Gähwiler, these symptoms have improved significantly. My legs feel more rested, I have less swelling, and I feel like the muscles in my legs work better under stress."
